I drove through Skiatook on the way back to Texas because I remembered that was the home of a lot of concrete animals. For a while after arriving I thought I had imagined that, because the first several places where I remembered seeing concrete animals were now occupied only by concrete benches. I was relieved to see a line of weathered looking statuary animals outside an old warehouse, and then, finally, a few newer and less weathered examples of cement artistry out near the highway. I still think there are fewer than there used to be, though; perhaps the citizens of Skiatook are beginning to doubt their earlier choices for their city's décor.
There is, in Skiatook, a combined antique store and pet shop. If you're thinking that you might want to open such a business, take heed: I went into this store, and it didn't seem like a particularly good idea.
Had enough? Let's go home, then.
